Lecture Title: Source-to-sink monitoring of emerging pollutants in hydrosystems after a large industrial fire : a study case of Lubrizol plume (Rouen, France, 2019)
Prof. Matthieu Fournier is Professor of Hydrogeology at Université de Rouen Normandie (France) and a member of research unit Morphodynamique Continentale et Côtière (M2C). He holds a Ph.D. in karst hydrogeology (University of Rouen, 2006) and has been involved in teaching and research in hydrogeology and karst hydrology since 2009. His research activities focus on water sciences, particularly transfer of microbiological and chemical contaminants between surface water and groundwater, as well as hydroclimatic variability and its impacts on water resources. He authored over 100 international papers and conference proceedings then supervised 14 Ph.D. and post-doctoral research.

Dr Nicole Jaffrezic-Renault received her engineering degree from Chimie ParisTech, Paris, in 1971 and the Doctorat d’Etat és Sciences Physiques from the University of Paris-Saclay in 1976. She is Emeritus Director of Research at CNRS, past president of the chemical micro sensor club (CMC2), and past-president of the Analytical Chemistry Division of the French Chemical Society. She was decorated as Knight of the National Order of Legion of Honor and Officer of the National Order of Merit. Her research activities in the Institute ISA University of Lyon and now at the Institute UTINAM University Marie and Louis Pasteur, Besançon, France, include conception and design of (bio)chemical sensors and their integration in microsystems. She coordinates several European and national projects for the development of microsystems for biomedical and environmental monitoring and for food safety. She published more than 655 papers with more than 16700 citations (H index: 65).

Prof. Patrick Martin is Professor of Chemistry at University of Artois (Béthune, France), where he serves as Head of Artois site of Unit Transformations & Agroressources (ULR 7519) and Head of R&D at IUT Béthune (Chemistry Department). His research activities focus on bio-based and sustainable chemistry, particularly extraction, transformation and valorization of agro-resources. He has an extensive record of scientific publications, patents and supervised doctoral theses.

Prof. Dr. Jaafar Gaber received his Ph.D. degree in 1998 from University of Lille I. He is currently a researcher at FEMTO-ST institute (UMR CNRS 6174) and UTBM. His research interests include modern distributed systems, including AI, Big Data, IoT, reconfigurable, embedded computing, and distributed/parallel algorithms. His research has been frequently supported by European grants within EU FP6 and EU FP7 and industry.

Dr. Javier Hernández-Borges is Full Professor of Analytical Chemistry Division of Department of Chemistry at University of La Laguna in Tenerife (Canary Islands, Spain). In 2005 he obtained his PhD in Chemistry at that University. He has published around 155 papers in international journals and 34 book chapters, most of them dealing with analytical method development with determination of pesticide, antibiotic and estrogenic compounds residues in environmental and food samples by chromatographic and electromigration techniques.

Short Biography

Prof. Emeritus Malika Trabelsi-Ayadi is Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences of Bizerte, University of Carthage (Tunisia), the founder and a senior member of the Laboratory of Application of Chemistry to Natural Resources and Substances and the Environment (LACReSNE-LR05ES09).

Her expertise covers several areas:

  • Environmental chemistry: Pollution, purification, soil, wastewater, tint, textile industry, emerging micropollutants.
  • Phosphates of Rare earths: Synthesis, characterization, physical properties (luminescence, conductivity).
  • Clays: Hydro-mechanical properties, purification properties, ceramic, cosmetic, pollution removal.
  • Educational sciences: Didactic, teaching, learning, evaluation.

Her research focuses on the designing, operating and optimizing treatment facilities for organic residues and high-strength wastewater, the promoting energy recovery through biomethanization and cogeneration and the contributing to the ecological and energy transition in Tunisia and internationally in the framework of a circular economy.

She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications, including Environmental chemistry, Analytical chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Physical-chemical chemistry, Green chemistry and Didactic of sciences.

Chrystelle Montigny is a Professor at Polytech Montpellier and a member of HydroSciences Montpellier (UMR 5151). A specialist in analytical chemistry, she holds a Ph.D. in water chemistry and microbiology from University of Pau. Since 2010, her research has focused on the chemical and microbiological quality of aquatic environments, with expertise in trace metals and organotin compounds.

Dr. Abdennacer Boulila is a Professor of Biological engineering and since 2023 is the Head of ‘Laboratoire des Substances Naturelles LR15INRAP02’ at ‘Institut National de Recherche et d’Analyse Physico-chimique INRAP’ in Biotech-Pole of Sidi Thabet, Tunisia. His research interest covers analysis of natural-derived products including extraction, chemical characterization, and biological properties. He has authored over 60 international papers and supervised over 20 Master’s and PhD students. He is director and participant in more than 10 collaborative projects aimed in therapeutic and agro-industrial potentialities of natural products. He is also lecturer in several scientific meetings and courses, reviewer for more than 20 international journals focusing in valorization of biomolecules and co-founder of the Tunisian Association of Genetic Resources.
