Building on the remarkable success of the first SPECTROMED Congress (April 2024), which brought together a diverse scientific community from across the Mediterranean region, Europe, and North Africa, we are pleased to announce the 2nd Mediterranean Congress on Mass Spectrometry and its Applications (SPECTROMED II).
The inaugural edition established SPECTROMED as a dynamic, high-level platform for scientific exchange, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue between academia, research institutions, and socio-economic stakeholders. It highlighted the richness and complementarity of scientific expertise across countries and disciplines, while promoting collaborative research, innovation, and technology transfer in the field of Mass Spectrometry and advanced analytical technologies.
In this spirit of continuity and ambition, SPECTROMED II will take place from April 23 to 26, 2026, in Sousse, Tunisia, offering an enhanced program of plenary lectures, thematic sessions, hands-on workshops, and networking opportunities. The congress aims to further strengthen regional and international cooperation and to showcase cutting-edge developments and applications in mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, materials science, environmental analysis, health, and related fields.
In a world facing major challenges related to health, environmental sustainability, energy transition, and food security, advanced analytical technologies are more essential than ever. Mass spectrometry, increasingly supported by Artificial Intelligence and modeling, plays a pivotal role in addressing these scientific and societal priorities.
SPECTROMED II is jointly organized by the National Institute for Research and Physico-Chemical Analysis (INRAP) and the Sciences Horizons Association (ASHO).
We warmly invite researchers, professionals, and partners to join us for this second edition and to contribute to shaping the future of analytical sciences in the Mediterranean region and beyond.
SPECTROMED II aims to:
Present the latest advances in Mass Spectrometry and its applications across life sciences, chemistry, geosciences, and environmental sciences;
Foster collaborative networks within Euro-Mediterranean and South–South partnerships, in line with international research initiatives such as Horizon Europe and PRIMA;
Offer high-level theoretical and methodological training for young researchers and PhD students through 3-hour workshops delivered by international experts in mass spectrometry and its applications. These workshops will also include sessions on current standards and quality assurance requirements;
Promote knowledge dissemination and technology transfer towards industry and socio-economic stakeholders.
We are confident that SPECTROMED II will once again serve as an inspiring forum for scientific exchange, learning and innovation, while strengthening collaboration among scientists, engineers, industrial partners and early-career researchers.
We warmly invite you to join us in Sousse to celebrate science, collaboration and Mediterranean partnership.
Welcome to SPECTROMED 2026!
Warm regards,
